Welcome

"For someone who doesn't talk much, Alan Stewart is the consummate Yappie (Young Artist Professional). Before his recent departure to Florida, his contribution to the art scene in Raleigh was massive. He was fully involved with the Contemporary Art Museum, was the driving force behind the Feather Network, and explored post Andy Goldsworthy sculpture, color-smart abstraction, and his personal attraction to nature-as-art-object, even when painting on canvas (remember the way he used to stretch canvas on found tree branches?) His current Glance Gallery exhibit shows growth in two ways: boiling abstraction down emotionally, and the use of paper as a softening medium. The diptych "Summer Sun" is the top piece this time, with an implied sun dipping into separate oceans, one at sunset the other on a hazy day. "
